Our Story

Comer Education Campus provides a unique environment and holistic approach to foster growth and achievement for underserved youth across the South Side of Chicago

In 2006 Chicago philanthropist and founder of the Lands’ End apparel company, Gary Comer, opened the Gary Comer Youth Center in Grand Crossing with the vision of helping young people grow, succeed and redefine possible. Over time, the work Gary Comer began expanded beyond the Youth Center to encompass a new high school, middle school, college success program, urban garden, neighborhood development and much more.

The challenges facing young people in the Grand Crossing area first came to Gary Comer’s attention after a visit to his former grammar school, Paul Revere Elementary, in 1998. Mr. Comer's efforts to help young people drove the planning and creation of the Youth Center, and later the vision for Comer Education Campus. Through a variety of college success, youth enrichment and community development initiatives and partners, Comer Education Campus provides young people the tools they will need to earn a college degree and the belief that they can reach their full potential.
